Mikal E. Belicove is a Laguna Beach, California-based author and ghost blogger who specializes in content development, market analysis, and messaging/positioning for individuals and businesses. Mikal's latest book, "2009 Internet Directory: Web 2.0 Edition," is now available, and you can read his column on website management, usability and design in Entrepreneur magazine.
My expertise includes business blogging, corporate communications, branding and market positioning, social networking for business, conference and association management, pitching and selling book ideas and managing the publishing process, and online retail management and product sourcing. I draft business plans and press releases, direct media campaigns, and ghost blog for select clients.
I serve on the Board of Directors at the Cottonwood Institute, a non-profit organization based in Denver that inspires students to become active community leaders and environmental stewards through an exciting blend of adventure, wilderness survival, and environmental service.
Previously, I was CEO of an Internet company specializing in the development and delivery of products and services for the outdoor education and adventure recreation industries. Under my guidance, we published The Outdoor Network and the Outdoor Education & Recreation Law Quarterly, developed the blog-enabled Outdoor Network website, and ran the award-winning employment service Outdoor JobNet.
I worked on the 'For Dummies' series (Wiley) where I was responsible for finding & signing the best author candidates to write new books. I developed new titles; conceptualized content; negotiated authors' contracts; directed authors’ efforts; and researched markets for revenue-generating ideas. Prior to working for Wiley, I did the same thing for Penguin's 'The Complete Idiot's Guide' series.
