Michel Thivet’s Experience

  • Senior Siebel architect

    IBM Global Services

    (Information Technology and Services industry)

    November 2008Present (9 months)

A large data centre belonging to an insurance company is to be moved from Belgium to Germany. I am in charge of the detailed design for all the Siebel environments involved as well as a few others.

There are two applications, the first is Call Centre/Financial, the second being Siebel HR. Both applications run Siebel 7.7.2.6 on Windows with Oracle 10Gr2 on Linux. CTI is also in place via the Genesys GPlus adapter.

I am redesigning the architecture along SOA guidelines and also virtualizing (VMWare) most of the servers. The new architecture is to be validated through testing of a Proof of Concept environment that I am implementing while providing some knowledge transfer to the support staff.

A great opportunity to acquire and hone new skills such as Siebel SSSE, v8 and Informatica.

  • Senior consultant

    Skura Europe Ltd

(Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Information Technology and Services industry)

    September 2007January 2008 (5 months)

Multi-threaded role involving pre-sales, business analysis and project management across several business units of Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany and the Netherlands.

  • Senior Siebel Architect

    Dresdner Bank

(Public Company; 10,001 or more employees; Banking industry)

    June 2007September 2007 (4 months)

My responsability is to improve performances of data migration and Siebel upgrade processes from 7.05 to 7.8 in order to fit within our operational window for production deployment. An improvement in the order of %80 is required. Dresdner Bank has an extensive and complex implementation of Siebel FINS running on DB2 and AIX for both DB and application servers

  • Senior Siebel Architect

    IBM

(Public Company; 10,001 or more employees; IBM; Information Technology and Services industry)

    July 2006May 2007 (11 months)

Siebel Architect within the Performance Management Team. My role is to provide Siebel expertise for the deployment of a very large 7.8 eCommunications project for Deutsche Telekom. The application will be operated by about 15000 call center agents and contain over 50 million customer records. Many aspects of this project are on the leading edge of Siebel Architecture since it will rely on Oracle RAC running on AIX 5.3 for the RDBMS (24x7); this is very likely a first on this scale.
As part of the performance team I contribute to the following aspects of the project:
    • Architectural review and analysis
    • Identification and resolution of choke points
    • Test scenarios design
    • Performance Tuning
    • Elaboration of operational processes
    • Impact analysis for the Non Functional Requirements
    • Knowledge transfer

  • Senior Siebel Architect

    Atos Origin

(Public Company; 10,001 or more employees; ATO.PA; Information Technology and Services industry)

    March 2006June 2006 (4 months)

To assist Atos in all aspects of the project such as:
    Pricing
    Resource management & interviews
    Siebel Technical and Administration consultancy
    Architectural review
To assist Canal+ in its dealings with the integrators (Business & Decisions/Cap Gemini)
The whole platform is running on Wintel servers and relies on Oracle 10R1 using RAC for the database. Load Balancing is provided by Cisco CSS routers.
As Canal+ is awaiting clearance from the French monopoly commission for the takeover of its main competitor, TPS, I was involved in many discussions with the Canal+ CIO concerning the potential impact this takeover would have on the Siebel and legacy platforms. At present Canal+ have over 11 million customers while TPS stands at about 8. This raises many challenges as to data quality and integrity as Canal+ intends to merge customer data as soon as physically possible. The challenges are many as the Call Centres are absolutely fundamental to their business.

  • Senior Siebel Architect

    Eli Lilly

(Public Company; 10,001 or more employees; LLY; Pharmaceuticals industry)

    January 2006March 2006 (3 months)

Architecture: Design for the deployment of a new multinational, multi-language’s (ENG, ENU, JPN, ESN), implementation of Siebel 7.8.1 ePharma (Life Sciences) running on Oracle 10R1. This also includes the testing of new virtualized environments (VMware) for development and maybe production at a later stage depending on Siebel’s support.
Administration: I am in charge of development support and administration inclusive of the production of the necessary documentation for deployment.
Support: About 25% of my time is allocated to 3rd party support of the existing Siebel ePharma 7.5.3 environment as well as providing a measure of knowledge transfer to the existing team; this environment has no relation to the 7.8.1 project.
