Data Center Consultant
Phoenix, Arizona Area
I have spent the last 20 years in my career in technology, engineering and operations with one thought in mind, how can I make things better. This is my life at work and I have a self driven passion to succeed. Better comes in many shapes and sizes and could be as simple as motivating my teams and providing a great place to work or the more complex of creating a plan to turn a 6.4Mw data center “Green”. One thing that I have been gifted with is the vision to see how something “can be” and having the experience and knowledge to make it happen.
Over the last 4 years, I have dedicated myself to operating eBay’s 11 data centers with ingenuity and a passion for excellence that rivals the best in the industry. One walkthrough of any of these facilities and it will be clear with the most common response that I receive is, “unbelievable”! There are many reasons for this from the exceptional teams that run them, technology in them and standards and processes we have set to manage them. I have built, commissioned and started a 6.4Mw data center with a $200M budget and have driven consolidation programs to save space and power worth many millions more. I have put together a green initiative to reduce the power consumption in our data centers and to make them more efficient. Just with a few weeks of work and planning, we saved $300K annually just in power for 1 data center. I have also created and managed a European consolidation program of 8 data center locations to make the business work more efficiently and to reduce cost.
The previous 16 years, I excelled in Network Engineering operations and design, NOC operations, software development, server deployments and Q/A. In addition, I have created and managed large projects, business within a business and revenue generating programs.
What is next on the horizon for me is a place that needs the passion and knowledge that I possess and has the inspiration for new ideas with the end goal of making things better.
