Mathieu Ricordi's Summary

Mathieu became drawn to the social relevance and emotion of film at a very young age, and has been trying to put those qualities in his own movies ever since. Many shorts were done at a quick rate in high school, always with either a small group of friends or family, and with scripts usually simply crafted in a day or two.

Mathieu’s first attempt at a more applied and serious work, a 22 minute parable about the effects of technology on friendship entitled “Windows” won him the best short film award at the Greenlight International Film Festival with hundreds of movies in competition from around the globe. This recognition led him to be the only writer/director in Western Canada to be chosen to make a film for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Côté Cour television show, entitled "Frugal".

Wanting to mesh his cinematic development with a well rounded education, Mathieu went on to attend the University of British Columbia where he earned a double major in Film Production and English literature. In the already highly selective 15 person, film program, he was one of only 5 chosen to direct a graduate film which became a 16 minute labor of love project about the detachment of University life entitled “Bachelor of Hearts”. Since University, Mathieu has stayed active by doing commercial and corporate videos to sustain himself while striving ever further to create great projects of his own. His latest, "False Creek Stories", is a personal foray into the neighborhood he grew up in. The film is a multi character piece starring seasoned actors Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Spin City), D.B Sweeney (The Cutting Edge, Fire in The Sky) and narrated by Stephen Lang (Avatar, Public Enemies).
