I like getting to the heart of the matter. I've always been interested in the stories people want to tell from the inside out, especially the stories where it's not easy to know where to start.
In 20 years as a journalist, I've worked for Radio New Zealand and London Weekend Television; I've had pieces in the The Times newspaper and Good Housekeeping magazine (the largest subscriber base of any UK women's mag) and I've also edited an international glossy magazine that you've never heard of.
I've got an idea for a book about divorce which I really like, my agent really likes (www.andrewlownie.com - search on my name) and the UK's leading relationship support agency (Relate) really likes. So tell all your publishing friends.
I specialise in building relationships and connecting people.

I'm a student on the business coach programme at Meyler Campbell in London. It's a research-based organisation which trains senior people to coach in organisations. It also hosts a dynamic post-graduate community of business coaches (i.e. they can help you find a coach). Coaching is a relatively new academic field, but the academic supervisor here is Professor Carol Kauffman of Harvard.

The IOW specializes in family and relationship support. Founder, Mike Kelly, set it up because most talk-based therapy was offered to white, liberal middle class people who could recognize their own need and afford to pay for it.
It’s a “social business” with a mixture of individual, private clients and contracts for delivery with central and local government. It offers courses ranging from relationship skills (including positive fathering) through to massage and music therapy.

When I took over, the brief was to get the magazine talked about by influential New Zealanders. I got personal exclusive interviews with then Prime Minister, Helen Clark, and with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Don McKinnon. We doubled the number of pages and introduced a number of new features which have become fixtures. An glossy magazine with an international circulation, available by subscription or in Air New Zealand Koru club lounges.

I joined WIG after five years in the public affairs department at GKN, which was then a FTSE-100 engineering company. WIG exists to promote the exchange of people, ideas and best practice between business and government. I was responsible for the public face of WIG; as well as organising events and publications I initiated its first ever website (how times have changed).
