Martin Diggs is a photographer and film producer, director, screenwriter, editor with 13 years of experience in the industry, that includes working under the legendary filmmaker Robert Altman.
Martin met Robert Altman as a production assistant on the film, Kansas City, which was shot on location in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1994. He spent seven months working for Altman on the film from preproduction to post – including working in front of the camera as an actor in the film.
After working on Kansas City, Martin relocated to Los Angeles to work on additional Altman projects - Kansas City Jazz '34 and Cookie's Fortune. Martin also kept busy working on a number other motion pictures – including Dante's Peak, One Fine Day and Volcano – and continued his career as an actor. Work that over the course of the next 4 years would make him one of the most prolific black commercial actors of that time. Lending his comedic talents to commercials for Miller Lite, Dodge, Cellular One, Ace Hardware, Sega and more, Martin was seen all over the country and in some cases the world in more than 30 spots.
Martin spent five years working in production for IPS, one of the oldest commercial production companies in Los Angeles where he worked his way up the ladder from Production Assistant to First Assistant Director. Between his work with IPS and other production companies around the Los Angeles area, Martin aided in the production of more 150 spots.
In the midst of this work, Martin pursued independent projects as well. His commercial spoof Brozac (2000) and short film Workin’ It Out (1998) were purchased by Urban Entertainment where they sat among the most popular and highest rated comedic shorts for nearly a year.
Martin graduated from the University of Kansas in 1990 with a degree in Theater and Film.
