500+ connections

Marnie Loomis' Summary

I’m most comfortable in front of an audience and I have a profound ability to connect with people. When this rare talent is combined with my background in medicine, education and administrative leadership, the result is an incredibly effective spokesperson that audiences trust. Is it time for more people to know about your organization? Does your organization have educational design needs? I'd love to be your ambassador to the world.

Some career highlights:

As a professional consultant, I work with companies to create healthier work environments for their employees. I create educational material, lead workshops, advise policy and identify systemic changes that increase productivity and decrease absenteeism.

As a college administrator, I worked to bridge the naturopathic and classical Chinese medical professions into the current healthcare model. I forged connections with industry leaders and helped natural medicine graduates plan their careers. I also broadened the accessibility of continuing education by transitioning the College onto the online marketplace.

As a representative of the College, I worked to reconnect alumni with the institution as well as recruit hundreds of new students during many national and international recruiting events.

As an educator and speaker, I made complicated information accessible and understandable to people from all educational backgrounds. Using lecture, writing, analogy, theatrics, and humor, I helped my students and audiences understand complex subjects including the human body, human behavior, disease, and therapeutics.

As a private physician, my most recent clinical focus was professional burnout. My earlier clinical work focused on people with sensory processing sensitivity, chronic pain, gastrointestinal disorders and cancer screening and prevention.

Specialties include: Public speaking, writing, editing, advising, recruiting, creative problem solving, critical thinking, humor.

January 2005January 2014 (9 years 1 month)

I have taught several different courses to naturopathic medical students, including nutrition, clinical/physical diagnosis, and psychology (cultivation of the practitioner). I employ pedagogy that blends active learning, lecture and experiential exercises with a reflective component. My goal is to have students fully understand the material in a way that will allow them to think critically when caring for a patient's individual needs.

I represented NCNM as the delegate to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians House of Delegates and was a frequent spokesperson for the college during many national and international recruitment and outreach events during which I helped to recruit hundreds of students into the naturopathic program.
