I use XML related technologies to advance the mission of publishing companies. I currently work with industry leaders in a DTD analysis and conversion project for a major scientific journal company and provide XSL-FO applications for amajor pharmaceutical company.
I also work with other XML consulting firms and smaller newsletter/journal publishers to advance their use of XML for both archive and reuse.
I have worked in the electronic media area of scientific journal publishing for the past 9 years. I began work using SGML and was an integral team member in the conversion to XML of a previous employers' entire journal catalog.
I have advanced training and experience using both XSLT 1.0 and 2.0 as well as XQuery. I have training and experience employing XSL-FO to create print-ready documents from XML. My knowledge and practical use of the NLM/NCBI suite of DTDs approaches an expert level and I am familiar with many other proprietary publishing DTDs.
I believe that XML exposes the possibilities of your data. If you are still using Word, text, or relational databases there is a whole universe of opportunity waiting in the markup world.

Using XML-related technologies I work with companies to convert their existing text, Word, PDF, SGML, and/or XML documents to a desired XML or other format. I am currently doing DTD analysis and XSLT stylesheet creation for a major XML consulting firm.
I have advanced experience with both XSLT 1.0 and 2.0 as well as XQuery 1.0. I develop conversions from XML to PDF using XSL-FO.
My consulting focus is within the scientific journal publishing community. I am well versed in the NLM/NCBI XML DTD and numerous proprietary DTDs.

Integral part of the team that moved APA PsycArticles and APA PsycCritiques to XML. Team member during the design phase of the XML DTD, created the original XSLT stylesheet pipeline to convert existing SGML to XML, and provided maintenance of the process until leaving employment with APA in 2006.
Since this conversion occured pre-XSLT 2.0, I used Perl and Python scripting to facilitate the conversion of SGML to a well-formed XML format that was then converted through XSLT 1.0 templates.
In addition I completed a proof-of-concept Word-to-XML conversion for a fast editing pipeline while at APA. The output available from this pipeline included XML, HTML, and PDF.
