General Superintendent

BBL Construction Services

Projects

St. Peter's Hospital - Patient Pavilion(Link)

310,125 square foot Patient Care Pavilion and Diagnostic & Treatment Platform (The Pavilion).

Winner of AGC's 2012 Jeffrey J. Zogg Build New York Award

The Pavilion involved expansion of the cardiovascular and general surgery facilities, post partum and nursery, pharmacy and endoscopy, adding 24 Operating Rooms (OR) including 1 hybrid OR, 5 procedure rooms, 92 Pre-Op/PACU beds, 90 patient beds and an additional 10,000 square feet of related renovation work and electrical infrastructure upgrades throughout the existing hospital. Construction of the project involved demolition of existing buildings adjacent to and structurally attached to the existing hospital, as well as constructing a new building between existing buildings and interconnected to the existing facility, all on a highly congested site constrained by two city streets.
Flexibility of scheduling was one of the critical elements that BBL and their subcontractors, as well as St. Peter’s staff, exercised during the course of the project. BBL worked side by side with St. Peters Hospital Staff using scheduling software to maintain the progression of critical path items. Construction activity was meticulously tailored around hospital activities. Surgery schedules were distributed to BBL Project Managers which allowed BBL to schedule construction activities in sensitive areas at acceptable hours.
