Novay connects companies, knowledge partners and government organisations in an open network to realise ground-breaking ICT innovations which have an impact on people, society and the economy. Together we translate those into successful services and into technology that delivers.
Marije Teerling is currently working as a Researcher at Novay. She works on the intersection of marketing and ICT, for instance on research relating to (re)directing customers to specific channels, the adoption of mobile services or ICT innovations in the way we shop. She especially focuses on the role of the customer and measuring the effects of the virtual worlds and channels on customer behavior.
One of her major project at Novay so far has been Kanalen in Balans. For the last two years she has been responsible (work package leader) for all research and innovation activities relating to multichannel management and the customer. Her knowledge expertise within this project lies especially on channel marketing, i.e. how can you motivate customers to use the digital channels instead of the traditional channels.
She obtained her Ph.D. in Marketing at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Groningen, in the Netherlands. Her dissertation focused on determining the effectiveness of informational web sites on individual customer buying behavior. She shows that this effectiveness, given the multichannel environment, is not necessarily positive and that customers have a lot to benefit from the information offered online. The publication of the dissertation was not unnoticed in the press.
