Marie Kaddell has over twenty-five years of experience in the library and information science field with a special focus on law librarianship and technology in libraries. She is the Information Professional Consultant at LexisNexis dedicated to supporting government librarians across the country. She is the 2007 LexisNexis Federal Consultant of the Year.
She authors and maintains The Government Info Pro Blog, dedicated to topics of interest to government information professionals. Marie also podcasts on topics of interest to government librarians on the LexisNexis Government Info Pro Podcast available on iTunes.
Kaddell is a national and local speaker on library topics including Web 2.0 in libraries, blogging, podcasting, and government library trends. She spoke at SLA in Toronto in 2005 as a panelist on the topic of blogging and RSS. She was a panelist speaker at a jointly sponsored DC/SLA and Military Librarian’s Group program exploring podcasting in libraries in May 2006, presenting a Listening and Viewing Guide to Podcasts for Librarians. She co-presented a CE workshop at SLA 2007 in Denver entitled: Podcasting 101: Leveraging Podcasting in Your Special Library. In 2008, she co-taught an 8 hour CE class on Web 2.0 for Librarians. She was an official conference blogger for AALL, ALA, SLA, Internet Librarian, and MLW in 2007 and CIL, SLA, and AALL in 2008.
Kaddell edits and compiles the annual Best Practices for GovernmentLibraries collaborative document. She has been published in SLA's Legal Division Quarterly and BITE: Bulletin of the Information Technology Division of SLA. She has been a guest author for the LexisNexis Information Professional Update.
Marie is the SLA Division of Government Information Membership Chair and an SLA/DGI Communications Committee Advisory Board Member.
