Specialties: Self-injury: I have researched and studied the topic for over 14 years, given approximately 40 presentations on the topic, been interviewed by TV. stations regarding the topic, and have worked with over 325 individuals who have some history of self-injury. I have developed a workbook based upon the almost 5 years of running the only teen girl and women's self-injury groups in the DFW area, called The Self-injury Prevention Activity Workbook. In order to assist the caregivers and general public in better understanding, reacting to, and treating self-harm, I have written a book (out Feb. 6, 2014) titled, A Caregiver's Guide to Self-injury.

A 6 hour seminar open to the public and professionals who want a better understanding of what self-injury is/isn't, how to properly assess for it, the warning signs, the 35 reasons why people injure, the role of the media, neurotransmitters associated with injury, the great tattoo/piercing & injury debate, and actual treatment strategies that I have used with the 325 clients that I have counseled & the hundreds of cases that I have consulted on over the last 14 yrs.

6 hrs of CEUs and handouts provided by UBH of Denton. Light snacks provided by Vann Counseling.

A Caregiver's Guide to Self-injury hardback book will be available for purchase by Feb. 6th, but a pre-release spiral binding of it will be available for the Jan. 25th seminar. Licensed professionals who attend all 6 hours will be able to purchase Ms. Vann's Self-injury Prevention Activity Workbook for $22.
