I was a founder of what is now called the "Alternative" format of 89X, one of the first such stations in North America. From its prior Hot 40 format, it went from a zero in the Detroit market to a 1.5 in 18 months, with a TSL of 14 hours. I also appeared on-air in a fashion not unlike Kurt Loder @ MTV. Our starting the format is, I believe, one of the last great Detroit radio stories; I've blogged about it on my MySpace page @ www.myspace.com/lexkuhne.
