For nineteen years, Karen Bouris has championed books, issues, and people, from musicians to PBS chefs, from spiritual gurus to thought leaders. She has launched book marketing campaigns for Johnny Cash, Billy Graham, Sidney Poitier and hundreds of others, including numerous New York Times bestsellers. She has worked with nonprofits, such as MoveOn.org, Blue Frontier, and CodePink, designing grassroots campaigns, using books as the organizing principal, for nonviolence, ocean advocacy, and progressive movement building. Her experience ranges from NY “big publishing,” with HarperCollins, to KQED, the only PBS affiliate publishing division, and several independent publishing ventures—and her roles have ranged from Publisher to Sales & Marketing Director, from Editor to Art Direction. Additionally, from 1999 to 2002, she founded and ran KBN Content Development and provided content and marketing strategy and communications for several best-in-their-space websites and technology companies, including PeopleSoft, Autodesk, and others. She has written books and articles related to women’s issues and been on countless television and radio programs, as well as featured in print. A graduate of UC Berkeley and Bay Area native, Karen currently lives in Maui with her two children.
