Patent Attorney at Griffith Hack
Sydney Area, Australia
I have drafted patents for green power generation, multi-row cultivators, financial instruments, mining engineering, lasers, flow cytometry, check valves, methods of advertising, gaming and methods of detecting fraud. I have prosecuted patents in these and other areas. I have prepared Freedom to Operate advices. I am currently a key member of the Griffith Hack Clean and Sustainable Technologies Team.
I co-founded and was a chief investigator of The Centre of Excellence for Ultrahigh Bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems at The University of Sydney. Prior to this I was a project leader at The Optical Fibre Technology Centre, The University of Sydney. I have reviewed papers for international technical publications, such as IEEE Photonics Technology Letters. I have been a member of technical committees for the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO).
My PhD and post-doctoral research included lasers, Bragg gratings and optical amplifiers for telecommunications, heat flow and optics. I have experience programming in C, Pascal, Fortran and Mathematica, I have used my programming skills to model heat-flow in diode end-pumped solid state lasers, nonlinear optical effects in optical amplifiers and other phenomena. I prototyped with three others the “Explaining Photonics and Optical Communication” educational kit, which included three double-sided, surface mount printed circuit boards. I tutored electronics students in their second university year.
I was awarded a PhD in lasers and their applications with a Deans Commendation. I received eight notable academic prizes and awards at graduate and postgraduate levels, a BSc with first class honours in physics, and a Master of Intellectual Property.
I have authored over 100 publications in the fields of science, engineering and patent law, including the effects of Carbon Emission Trading Schemes on patent strategy.
