Social media, public relations and corporate communications professional
San Francisco Bay Area
I am the principal of Socialized, a consultancy that helps companies make effective use of social media in corporate communications, marketing and public relations.
I’m also the author of SocialCorp: Social Media Goes Corporate, a handbook designed to help corporate communicators and executives understand how to successfully adopt social business strategies in large companies. I’m available for speaking opportunities and book signings.
Previously, I was EVP of Emerging Media at Eastwick Communications, where I developed and implemented social media strategy and initiatives for companies like Seagate, Fujitsu, and Ustream.TV. Prior to that I have over a decade of Fortune 500 corporate communications leadership, which includes four years as the speechwriter to the CEO of Sun Microsystems, and three years as a director of internal and executive communications at Hewlett-Packard. I also have experience in print and broadcast news. I’m an inventor, and I hold several patents for bar code, smart card and portable data collection technology.
I live in Boulder Creek, in the Santa Cruz Mountains, which means I can get to the Silicon Valley in under an hour, but I’m far enough away to see deer in my backyard and stars at night.

Socialized helps clients of every size and shape adopt social media for corporate communications, marketing and public relations. We have a long (in social media years) track record of successful deployments of corporate and executive blogs, podcasts, video, and social media newsrooms.
With our background supporting companies ranging from Web 2.0 start-ups to publicly traded industry leaders, we can design, implement, manage and measure social media initiatives that go beyond being cool (though being cool is important), to help you achieve real business results.
Unlike many newcomers to social media, Socialized is built on a decade of Fortune 500 corporate communications leadership, supporting marketing and corporate communications organizations, and CEOs, EVPs and other senior executives, at companies like HP and Sun. So we actually know how to launch social media initiatives that are authentic and effective, while supporting your communications and business strategy.

I am responsible for Eastwick's social media strategy, both for the agency and for its clients. I provide support to the agency's clients for strategic public relations and marketing initiatives in blogging, podcasting, wikis and social media. I also lead Eastwick's editorial and content excellence initiatives. The agency is sharply focused on editorial quality and client domain knowledge, and these are important differentiators with current and potential clients.
