My initial career focus in 1988 was spent looking for ways to teach people about the promise of a new technology called "Voice Mail". At first, it was a bit like surgery with a machete, but eventually (10 years in my case) you could not buy a telephony device without a voice mail box attached to it. I had great mentors like Marty Parker (now at UC Strategies), Dale Bastian (now at 2Wire) and Sunil Bhalla (GM for Polycom Voice division).
For the past 10 years I have been rifle focused on the IP Telephony and Hosted VoIP market. During that time I have witnessed many businesses and service providers deploy very powerful application platforms from Broadsoft, Digium and others for simple dial tone replacement. The main reason they did not deploy more of the application potential of these platforms was due to the limits of the last mile broadband connections - i.e. limited or variable upstream bandwidth. I moved from Polycom over to U4EA in September of 2008 because I saw the promise of U4EA's unique multi-level QoS and bandwidth management capabilities that could solve this problem. Now small businesses and small/remote offices of large companies can simply and cost effectively deploy voice, video and UC apps without having to double or triple their phone bills or internet connection fees because someone told them that they needed to add more bandwidth in order to run video or UC on top of VoIP- please tell two friends and let's see if we can change the way the world communicates...again.
