I’m a writer, poet, and artist and filmmaker. My current project is a film called “Journey to the Center of Artomatic, a documentary about Artomatic, a District of Colombia-based annual arts expo, now in its 10th year. Artomatic is an all-volunteer arts event that has helped catapult several area artists, including the founder of PostSecret.com, to success. My documentary tells the story of how Artomatic began and why it’s now beginning to take roots in other cities in the U.S. and abroad. I am currently looking for people to help out with the development of a Website and logo for “Journey.”
Though I do not have a budget for either a Website or a logo, I am touched by the dozens of people who have already volunteered their time to help tell the story of Artomatic. It is my goal to include a Paypal function on this Website to enable donations to Artomatic. All of "Journey's" supporters will get credit, just as the people who support the development of the following trailer for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JapN65qnWg
To receive updates on “Journey” please add “artomaticvoyage” as a friend on Twitter and add yourself to the “Journey to the Center of Artomatic” group on Facebook.
I’m also currently applying these creative skills as Director of Washington Operations for Hugs Across America, a charity that raises teddy bears for kids in crisis. Nationally we’ve distributed over 400,000 teddy bears, including 12,000 teddies to Indonesia. Locally, we’ve given some 550 teddy bears to kids who need them. DC area recipients of our teddy bears include kids at the Georgetown University Hospital Pediatric Oncology and Pediatric ICU as well as children the DC Metro Police Homicide Response Unit serves.
I’m always looking for donations of NEW full-sized teddy bears for kids who need them and volunteers to host teddy bear tagging events.

I started making films when I was in high school and continued in college. My role as an independent producer at Arlington Independent Media (AIM) continues my dream to bring arts to the people in ways they identify. I have assisted other filmmakers in making their films. Now I'm working on my first documentary.

Hugs Across America raises money (and teddy bears) so kids in crisis may receive teddy bears. Locally we’ve delivered over 500 teddy bears to kids at Georgetown University Hospital and other groups. A Valentine’s Day teddy bear stuffing party yielded 120 teddy bears for sick children. Hexagon, a local political satire troupe, donated 160 teddy bears to the Washington Chapter. A local Bat-Mitzvah girl raised 90 teddy bears by asking her guests to donate teddy bears instead of giving her gifts. Most recently, the Washington Chapter of the National Assocation of Catering Executives donated some 60 teddy bears.
Nationally, we’ve donated over 400,000 teddy bears to kids globally, including 12,000 that went to Indonesia’s Tsunami survivors. Our bears went to child victims who were hospitalized or in shelters, orphanages and in general lost to their parents.
If you're interested in helping us, join the DC Area Hugs Across America chapter by logging onto Meetup.com and searching for “Hugs Across America.”

Saying when I started being an artist is like asking when I starte walking. I can't remember. I've always had a creative bent. I took portraits in junior high school, made films in high school and college and continued as time permitted. So I picked the above date because that's around the time I began my installation "Dancing Cats" (2007) which satired the commericialization of art in 2007. The year 2008 brough "The 12 Labears of Bearcules", which substituted huggable teddy bears for Hercules in the Labors he was tasked to complete. Tough I've worked in graphite, oil pastels, and various paints, I'm now working mostly in film.

Hexagon is Washington's only all-volunteer, for-charity political satire troupe. I was involved with Hexagon between September 2006 and September 2008 as a writer, artist, set builder, stage crew and as a props crew member. I enjoyed the thrill of the behind-the-scenes of the show because, to me, it's the "show behind the show." Other activities, such as filmmaking and my work as Hugs Across America's Washington Regional Coordinator have overtaken my work at Hexagon and I no longer am active with this group.
