Jane has enjoyed a 25 year career in theatre, film, television, radio, and commercials that spans 3 continents. She has worked with top directors and performers in comedy, drama and musicals.
For 10 years Jane was involved in every aspect of running her own theatre company Hooked on Books - writing, acting, directing, production design - as well as market analysis, promotion, finances, bookkeeping, contracts, tour booking and planning, writing of marketing materials and administrative duties. Initiated sales and marketing campaigns resulting in over 200 performance bookings per year throughout Western Canada. Employed over 40 actors.
Member of the committee that established the Spring Break Theatre festival as an annual event in Vancouver to celebrate children’s theatre.
Experience teaching French, German and Drama from Kindergarten through to Grade 12 in a variety of different situations and countries – UK, France, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Canada. In Vancouver, Jane has taught both gifted and learning disabled children using a Multiple Intelligence approach.

Created workshops for teachers in Langley, Abbotsford and Richmond School Districts on how to use drama to bring books to life in the classroom.
Created workshops for actors on performing for children and “The ABCs of Creating a Show for Schools” with Artstarts in Schools, Vancouver.
Partnered with British Columbia Children’s Art and Literacy Society and the Gateway Theatre Academy to offer in class “Field Trips” in Creative Drama. Was hired to lead team of instructors and to facilitate similar sessions for teachers.

Jane will be making her US debut as Elise in the World Premiere of Brian Nelson's new play Overlooked, directed by Marya Mazor, running Sept 21-October 21, 2012.
When an artist attempts to grab some media attention by employing a homeless man to be his newest art installation in a museum, the public is intrigued. Behind the scenes, a series of events revolving around this new sensation in the art world take us down unpredictable avenues and leads us to question the line between right and wrong, a job and enslavement, and art and reality.
Jane spent 3 months averting disaster and running in and out of rooms as she played the lead role of Joanna Markham in Ray Cooney's hilarious, fast-paced farce directed by Bernard Cuffling. Confusion and mistaken identities abound in this riotous comedy and the theatre was filled with peals of laughter every night.
Played the role of Dorothy Lintott in the Canadian Premiere of "The History Boys" by Alan Bennett, directed by Dean Paul Gibson. The show received four Jessie Richardson Nominations including Outstanding Production, Large Theatre.
Co founded Hooked on Books Theatre for Children, a professional theatre company committed to creating quality entertainment that educates, entertains and above all inspires children to read. Nine hit shows have been seen by over 1 million children throughout Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest USA. The company has received lavish praise from educators, authors, arts administrators, parents and children for its innovative, unique performances.

First production in South Africa was as Jane Ashton in "Brigadoon" at the State Theatre in Pretoria. Jane had the pleasure of working with some of the top theatre directors and actors in the country including Malcolm Terrey, Rex Garner, Alan Swerdlow, Ilse Van Hemert and Francois Swart. Toured nationally in three Pieter Toerien produced shows and performed in the World Premiere of Shirley Lauro's "A Piece of my Heart" at the Durban Playhouse.
