I am Director of Client Technologies for Q-Comm Corp., focused on improving the internal customer experience and improving metrics for operational excellence. Q-Comm is the parent company of Cinergy Communications, Norlight, KDL, Cinergy MetroNet and my former employer, nGenX.
In addition I am developing the company's management training program and bringing Lean/Six Sigma principles to many of the company's processes.
Prior to that I was responsible for IT execution for GE Plastics and GE Advanced Materials. There I earned certification as a Six Sigma Black Belt in DFSS and DMAIC statistical analysis and business process improvement.
At GE I also was elected chairman of GE Volunteers and managed more than 45 volunteer projects. Our chapter was named best in the world twice.
My new book "Hungarian Rhapsody: An Adoption Story," is available at online booksellers, bookstores near you and, in about six months, a cutout bin at a remainder store in the mall. Get it while you can still pay full price. It tells the story of the adoption of six of my 8 lovely children.
Prior to joining GE in May 2000, I was new media editor for The Evansville Courier & Press, a Scripps Howard newspaper. I was involved in the genesis of computer-assisted reporting and online media (and once paid $749 for 24K of RAM.) In my 17 year journalism career I focused heavily on aviation issues and plane crashes and stories involving the First Amendment.
I also co-own a computing business (www.cyberdads.com) and write a weekly technology column for Scripps Howard News Service.
