Thought leader in The Business Intelligence (BI) and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) markets
Strategy coach and advisor for organizations seeking to maximize their potential
(Management Consulting industry)
2007 — Present (2 years)
As President and Founder of Dresner Advisory Services, LLC I focus my energies on creating and sharing thought leadership for Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Business Intelligence (BI) and speak at forums around the globe.
My first book, The Performance Management Revolution: Business Results Through Insight and Action (John Wiley & Sons) was published in November 2007.
My second book, entitled Profiles in Performance: Business Intelligence Journeys and The Roadmap for Change will be published in October 2009 by John Wiley & Sons.
I also work with a small number of hand-picked organizations to help them optimize their performance - giving them a competitive advantage in their respective markets.

2005 — 2007 (2 years)
In 2005, I left Gartner and joined Hyperion Solutions as Chief Strategy Officer, successfully making the transition back to vendor life. As CSO I focused my efforts upon corporate strategy, product direction, and acquisitions. Externally, I drove thought leadership initiatives and served as a “voice” of Hyperion for customers, analysts and the market at large. As a result, we succeeded in making Hyperion the uncontested leader in performance management solutions. Early in 2007 Hyperion was acquired by Oracle for a 30% premium. Although Oracle graciously offered me a role, I chose to pursue a more independent route.

1992 — 2005 (13 years)
Among my many roles, I spent 13 years at Gartner, where I served as lead analyst for Business Intelligence. During my tenure I drove the definition and direction of the Business Intelligence research agenda, taking BI from an esoteric "backwater" to a mainstream and highly valued research area. I was twice selected as "analyst of the year" and inducted as a Gartner "cultural icon". I was named Vice President in 1996, Distinguished Analyst in 2003 and Gartner Fellow in 2004. In addition to driving much of the research surrounding BI, I founded and chaired Gartner's European and North American Business Intelligence conferences. Both remain industry-defining events.
