Managing Editor at Journal and Courier
Lafayette, Indiana Area
• As managing editor of the Journal & Courier, I oversee daily and long-term coverage for print, online and special products.
• I orchestrated the transition of our newsroom from a traditional print paper to a (nearly) 24/7 online-first operation. The results yielded a dramatic increase in key metrics such as page views.
• I use strategic research and build consensus in my innovation team to conceive and launch new products that increase revenue and readership. Successful products include a Moms Web site, monthly games section, twice-annual dining guide, digital pets contest and calendar, and a special recipe exchange.
• In 2006, I was the primary architect in the Journal & Courier's transition to a Berliner-style newspaper, the first of its kind for a daily in North America. The successful transition resulted in the highest reader satisfaction scores in the Gannett newspaper chain.
• Coordinate, develop strategic content to meet demands of audience.
• Oversee initiatives such as blogging, live event coverage, text alerts and breaking news.
• Project leader from conception to implementation, including P&Ls.
• Spearhead and champion new projects such as Moms Web site, twice-yearly dining guide, digital pets contest and calendar, and more that increase revenue.
• Collaborate with others to ensure everyone's voice is heard and projects are a result of strong teamwork.
