The LA Times likened Black swapping a successful, award-winning career as an On-Air promo writer/producer to a nascent online media producer as "jumping off a cliff". But it's already paying off. With the launch of Goodnight Burbank in March '06 (that he writes, produces & stars in) Black has won awards and gained global notoriety both in terms of critical acclaim (LA Times, TV Guide, USA Today, BBC News, etc) and popularity with downloads in the multi-millions. GNB was also nominated for a Best Comedy Webby '08.
In October '07, taking what he'd learned with Goodnight Burbank, Black debuted a brand new comedy series - with many interactive elements - that has exploded. "Abigail's X-Rated Teen Diary" is the first independent online production to launch at a profit, having sold advertising (bought by Warner Brothers) before it even debuted. Within 5 months the series, a massive hit with females 14-24, has already won awards (iTunes Best Podcasts 2007, Yahoo Best New Video Series 2008), soared well past 5 million views, and garnered critical praise ("cutting edge" - Fortune, "ridiculously funny" - Time Out Magazine, "silly, funny & poignant" - The Guardian). Like GNB, it can be found on various mobile outlets and both are now in the process of being shopped to television.
His latest project, set to premiere later this year, is a sci-fi musical comedy called "The Cabonauts" which is the first ever original commission by Daily Motion. Black spends the 25th & 26th hours of his days speaking at various seminars and conferences (Keynote at NAB 2007, NAB 2008, Digital Hollywood, PMNE, International Documentary Association, Keynote at OMMA, etc) and consulting.
