Believing in JFK's statement of "ask not what your country can do for you...but ask what you can do for your country", I decided to work in the pubic sector, rather than math, science, linquistics or theatre. While working as a supervisor in Parks Recreation and Community Services, I was appointed to my city's Planning Commission, and represented them at SCAG, our School District, Chamber of Commerce and the City Planning Division of the California League of Cities. After receiving my MPA in 1978 and returning to California, there were no public sector jobs available to me, and I changed direction and began to sell Real Estate and later opened my own Commercial Real Estate Brokerage. Eventually, I was asked to open a new commercial real estate division for Coast Savings, and have been in real estate finance since approximately 1981.

- After obtaining my Master of public Admin. we returned to California right after the Tax Proposition 13 was overwhelming approved. This severly cut into public jobs, so I obtained my Sales License in 1979. Money was tight then, so I returned to school at USC and took the required courses to sit for the California State Real Estate Broker Exam. Passed on first sitting. 4.0 GPA I was then licensed as a Real Estate Broker, founded my own brokerage for commercial real estaet loans.

Two I enjoyed most were the raw research to develop a State Liquor License Law, and deveoping and writing a Grant Proposal for the Department on Senior Housing and Finance.
