    In the June 2014 issue of Nutrition in Clinical Practice, the role of nutrition in pancreatic disorders is being highlighted. One issue that surfaces frequently in the complementary and alternative medicine world is the use (and misuse) of pancreatic enzyme supplements by consumers for a wide range of medical problems. Pancreatic enzyme therapies are approved for use as replacement therapy for pancreatic insufficiency. In one of the articles in this issue of Nutrition in Clinical Practice, Amy Berry1 discusses the use of pancrelipase for the treatment of pancreatic insufficiency resulting from a number of causes such as chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, pancreatic ductal obstruction, and pancreatic resection.
