I have been a community organizer (Texans United, Dallas ACORN, Houston ACORN) and grassroots researcher (Childhood Hunger Identification Project-1993). With Southern California Interfaith Hunger Coalition and subsequently LA Coalition to End Hunger & Homelessness, editor of "Peoples Guide to Welfare, Health and Other Services" as well as legislative advocate focusing on food stamps, child nutrition, anti-poverty programs (TANF and SSI). Founded Hunger Action LA in 2006. We are focused on anti-hunger advocacy but also on issues of inner city food security, anti-obesity, nutrition, promoting local and urban agriculture, Farm Bill issues, and other broad areas connecting anti-poverty work with sustainable agriculture.
