CityNAP provides carrier neutral collocation and interconnections for communications carriers, enterprises, content companies, banks, systems integrators and network service providers. CityNAP’s clients’ needs are accommodated by providing a purpose built space made to exacting standards with redundant and clean electrical power, abundant conditioned air and banking class security.

Began as NanoSpace in Palo Alto, CA in 1995; Renamed to YIPES Communications, Inc. and relocated to San Francisco, CA in 2000. This was the continuation and extension of the work Peter Kaminski and I started while at Netcom. Initially funded by us exclusively and backed by consulting work we built the company as a regional
Internet Service Provider with fourteen Bay Area access points of presents (dial-in locations). At the start of 1998 I came up with the idea of delivering Metro communications services via fiber and Ethernet and we spent that year doing just that. This was the origination of the idea of metropolitan Gigabit Ethernet carriers and services. I created and led the strategic plan, as well as network development. Though this was extremely controversial at the time it now represents a $12B market and Yipes was sold for $300M.
