Born and raised just outside the Boston area, Fitzy aspired to work in the animation industry since the age of 5. When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she answered innocently…. a cartoon. In April of 2001, she started working professionally as a caricature artist providing unique, quality entertainment to corporate, college, high school, and family events nationwide. In 2002, after graduating college with a double major in animation and illustration she moved to Southern California where she worked drawing caricatures at Universal Studios and interned at Film Roman. Two months into her internship, she was hired on the animated show Free For All as an assistant animator. From there she developed and pitched some projects as a co-creator, designer, and animator for West Coast animation, did some prop design for the Curious George TV show, and continued to draw caricatures at Universal. In February of 2006 she was called to work on the Simpsons Movie as a story reel artist. After the movie, she continued working with the Simpsons on various marketing projects and on the TV show as a storyboard artist and animator. Fitzy is currently working at Nickelodeon Studios as a storyboard revisionist, and continues to draw and work on her own projects hoping to someday start her own studio.
You can find her credits both under Julia “Fitzy” Fitzmaurice and Fitzy J. Fitzmaurice.
