I led the set up of a new youth leadership development organisation to get talented young people from marginalised communities in the UK into public leadership positions.
I developed the 1 year part-time curriculum for the programme. The curriculum is very action learning oriented including having the participants set-up and deliver community projects/campaigns.
I also managed fund-raising for the programme as well as developing and managing a stakeholder base to support the implementation of the programme.
At the start of 2008, I led the efforts to recruit young people who live work and study in East London into the programme.
The pilot of the programme commenced in July 2009 with 64 participants from East London and was opened by the UK Minister for Skills, David Lamy MP.
The UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown and the leaders of the 2 other major UK political parties David Cameron MP and Nick Clegg MP are patrons of UpRising
