Eric Johnson

My professional career has been focused on aviation and computer technology, and included a 2 year investigation of the feasibility of local, sustainable biofuels.

My aviation career has included work as a flight instructor, cargo pilot, airline pilot, corporate pilot, check airman, and pilot examiner.

From 1991 to 2001 I worked as a computer programmer, systems administrator, network administrator, and programming manager, and founded two Arizona-based technology companies.

In 2001 I returned to full-time employment in aviation; in 2007 I co-founded Desert Biofuels Initiative while working for a large technology company in the Phoenix area as a pilot on their in-house employee shuttle. As of 2009 I am on semi-permanent hiatus from DBI.

I hold a FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with type ratings on the Embraer 135 (EMB145) and Jetstream 3100/3200 (BA-3100). In 2011 I was approved by the FAA as a Pilot Proficiency Examiner on the EMB145.
