Dr. Christopher Kummer’s Summary
Dr. Christopher Kummer was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He studied at the University of St. Gall, Switzerland, and graduated in 1999 with an MBA degree (lic. oec. HSG). After his studies he co-founded a successful start-up company in Zurich. Later he was a Research Associate at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland, and Technical University Berlin, Germany. He received his Ph.D. (Dr. rer. oec.) with a thesis on «The International Activity of Mergers & Acquisitions: Historic Development, Diffusion and Strategic Intentions».
In 2004, Christopher Kummer joined Webster University in Vienna, Austria, as a full-time Professor. He gave courses and workshops on strategy, finance and management to students, C-level executives, investment bankers, and lawyers from all continents. During his time in Vienna, he established a non-profit academic think tank on M&A. In 2007, he became a Manager at a global professional services firm in Zurich, leading a specialized unit where he was involved in projects related to M&A, Human Resources and Executive Compensation.
During his career, Christopher Kummer has been a consultant or senior advisor in M&A transactions and alliances at every stage (from strategy, due diligence to integration and post acquisition review) and every size with a value of more than EUR 12 billion. Furthermore, he acted as a consultant to public authorities on the opportunities of M&A. Articles written by Christopher Kummer have been published in several languages. He is often invited as a speaker to conferences and a frequently sought-after commentator in the international media.
