Doug Makishima is a seasoned executive with deep experience in the Networking (routing/switching, security, VoIP and wireless), Mobile Communications and Storage industries. Prior to joining D2 Technologies, he was vice president of marketing at Intoto, a provider of network security and convergence/VoIP software platforms.
Before joining Intoto, Makishima served as vice president of marketing for Hifn, a leading provider of security and network processors, and as vice president of marketing and sales for ParkerVision, a wireless communications IC company. Makishima has held senior management positions with Nortel Networks, Bay Networks, AMD, Auspex and Adaptec, where he managed the marketing and development of advanced networking, wireless communications and storage products. He was also involved in the acquisition of WLAN startup Netwave Technologies by Bay Networks/Nortel, and during his engineering career, developed patented storage IC technology (patent# 5,659,690).
Mr. Makishima has actively participated on several IEEE and ANSI committees focused on networking, communications and storage standards. He had been a voting member of the IEEE 802.11 wireless networking standards committee for nearly 10 years. He holds a BSEE from the University of California, and a MBA from Santa Clara University.
