My parents taught me about the necessity and value of hard work. I got my first job, waiting tables at Bob's Big Boy family restaurant, as soon as I was legally able to do so. To make ends meet while in college and law school, I worked wherever I could including Rich's Department Store, Wendy's, Allie's Pantry, Pizza Hut, the Federal Communications Commission and anyplace else I could earn a buck while also being of service to someone else. Every job I had, no matter how "menial," has helped me understand the value of a dollar and motivated me through the years to own a business of my own so I never have to be wholly dependent on a traditional job to meet my needs.
Juris Doctor , Telecommunications and New Technologies , 1983 — 1986
I am one of the first graduates of the first law programs in the country to focus on understanding and implementing new technologies in the information age. This background uniquely equipped me to apply new technologies to my personal and professional life and now, to help others do the same.
Bachelor of Arts , Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations , 1980 — 1983
As a journalism and public relations major, I not only learned how to interact with the media, but also how to be the media myself. Today, I combine "book learning" with actual experience as a media personality to expand my own business and help others do the same.
