I am a Grade 1 personal injury Solicitor specialising in Industrial Disease with over twelve years’ experience within the industry. I have also held the title Solicitor Advocate after gaining the Higher Courts (Civil Advocacy) Qualification for over six years.
I have extensive experience dealing with all aspects of occupational disease including primary and secondary exposure to asbestos (mesothelioma, asbestosis, diffuse pleural thickening), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancers (skin and lung), industrial poisoning (lung and kidney toxicity and silicosis), pneumoconiosis, work related upper limb disorders (hand arm vibration syndrome, vibration white finger),carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive strain injury, tenosynovitis, De Quervains, occupational asthma, industrial deafness, rhinitis, and occupational dermatitis from both the Claimant and the Defendant perspective.
I have just (April 2012) taken up the position as Head of Industrial Disease at Sheldon Davidson’s Solicitors based in Altrincham, Cheshire. Prior to this I was with Berrymans Lace Mawer as an Associate solicitor and previous to this DWF (Ricksons pre- merger) both based in Manchester city centre.
I have been involved in two lots of ‘test’ litigation in the field of noise induced hearing loss, one of which was proceeeding under a (GLO) Group Litigation Order in the High Court. I conduct my own advocacy within the County and High Court and have also been involved in mediations, arbitrations and JSM. I have experience of cases in the Court of Appeal and am also entitled to exercise my Righs of Audience in all Civil proceedings in the higher courts including Judicial Review Proceedings.
I am married, have three young boys, Oscar, Barney & Felix and live in Hale, Cheshire. I enjoy travelling, have a passion for scuba diving, adore the Middle East, love fashion & design, treasure friends and family, good food and wine and am most happy when sat on a beach in the Bahamas!

After studying youth and community work and receiving a BA(HONS) at Bradford and Ilkley College, Emma went on to work with young people in a variety of settings and contexts. These include alternative education establishments, voluntary sector projects, young offender projects and schools.
In 2006 Emma founded Purify, which she set up to facilitate programmes with young people in schools and youth organisations.
In 2010 Emma realised Purify was growing and reaching more groups of people across the North East of England. In order to maintain a high standard of delivery and a professional image, Emma carried out a rebrand. In 2011 The Friendly Development Company was launched. The company facilitates personal and social development programmes with children, young people and adults in a wide variety of settings. The aim of the programmes are to increase self confidence and self esteem in individuals, so that they can remove barriers hindering their growth and potential.
The programmes available include Peer Massage and Progress, which are both available for Primary schools. Blossom and Roots are 12 session programmes aimed at either females or males.
