    Summary
I’ve found the Internet to be fascinating ever since I got my first dial-up connection back in the 90s. It didn’t take much for me to see the great potential it offered in my chosen profession of healthcare, and making the decision to abandon a clinical career in favour of one dedicated to development of telemedicine and e-health solutions wasn’t very difficult. The ethnography of healthcare practices are complex, and making room for digital communication between healthcare professionals to replace the traditional methods is challenging, but it’s bound to reach a significant tipping point sooner or later. I’ve always been excited about being a part of that process. The potential benefits for recipients of healthcare services are also, as far as I can see, unlimited. I’ve also been a member of the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) community for a few years now, and my interest there is working within the Generic Name Support Organization’s (GNSO) policy decision-making process to advocate the interests of non-commercial registrants, especially those concerning privacy and freedom of expression. Human rights is still an elusive concept to many people around the world, and cyberspace is a wonderful place for people to connect and share their interests, wether they be for social, political or professional purposes. Registration of domain names allows their holders (registrants) to express themselves in ways, which are free of the corporate guidelines imposed by traditional social networks. I’d like to think that I’m doing what I can to make the Internet a friendlier place for people who aren’t empowered by extreme wealth and political lobbying power.
