Denise Wells’s Summary
Denise Wells is the Marketing and Communications Specialist for the League of California Afterschool Providers. She has been involved in the non-profit industry for the last 15 years in a variety of both volunteer and staff positions. She worked for a number of years in Santa Barbara County as a crisis intervention counselor and trainer/coordinator of volunteers, starting in a volunteer capacity herself and then moving into a staff position. She has also volunteered her time for animal shelters, safety shelters for women and children (where she helped the children self-publish a book of their stories and drawings), as well as senior services.
Denise earned a Master's Degree in Literature and Writing Studies from California State University, San Marcos and was Founder and Lead Editor of the Campus Literary Magazine. In her spare time, she teaches online writing and English courses at University of Phoenix,and volunteers her time preparing a monthly newsletter for the Jewish Family Service UTC Senior Center. She also recently began mentoring for the La Jolla Chapter of the Girl Scouts of America.
