Deirdre Maloney's Summary
I help organizations meet their missions through better business, and I help their leaders sleep better at night.
How do I do this?
-I write:
I've published two books that give the straight scoop on what it really takes to achieve results, and actually enjoy the ride. The Mission Myth is filled with anecdotes and practical tips that help anyone in the nonprofit sector do good...well. Tough Truths, my new mini-book, provides the real (though somewhat uncomfortable) realities about what makes up those truly great leaders out there. And of course, there's also my blog on all things leadership. You can check it all out on my homepage at www.makemomentum.com.
-I speak:
I give keynotes, trainings, and facilitated discussions around the country on all kinds of topics - including "The Board Paradox", "How to Engage Anyone at Anytime" and "How to Be a Good Bad Guy"
-I teach:
I'm a professor of marketing at the University of San Diego
And last...but not at all least...
-I proudly run Momentum, LLC:
Through customized services, workshops, and facilitated sessions I help organizations exceed their goals for the greater good - and a better night sleep.
In the end, my life's work is pretty simple.I help organizations and their leaders do good...well.
Oh, three more important things to know about me:
My number one value? Authenticity.
My personal brand? Mild Audacity.
My commitment? To only take on projects where we can succeed - and to execute them with everything I have.
Specialties
strategic planning, board governance, facilitation, trainings, board/staff team building, marketing, public relations, public policy and advocacy, media, technical writing
Deirdre Maloney's Experience
Author, The Mission Myth and Tough Truths
Business Solutions Press
October 2011 – Present (1 year 8 months)
There's one thing you can count on when it comes to my work. I tell it like it is.
My books are no different.
Using my personal brand of “mild audacity”, my books combine provocative lessons, entertaining anecdotes and concrete tips about what it really takes to be a leader, achieve results…and actually enjoy the ride.
My first book, "The Mission Myth", tells the story about the seven years I ran a multi-million dollar nonprofit organization. I got the job at 28 years old, made a ton of mistakes out of the gate, and spent the rest of the time figuring out how to transform the organization into an excellent, thriving business. It’s a book designed to validate, inspire and motivate anyone in the nonprofit sector to do good…well.
"Tough Truths: The 10 Leadership Lessons We Don’t Talk About" is my new mini-book, which gives readers the straight scoop on what it really takes to be a great leader. The reason the lessons are truths is because they’re proven to make people great. The reason they are tough is because they make us uncomfortable. We might find ourselves resisting them. But, in the end, they won’t just lead to greatness. They’ll make us more satisfied than we’ve ever been before.
Both books are available on in paperback and as e-books and can be found on Amazon, barnesandnoble.com and iTunes.
