Technology Strategist at Vodafone
United Kingdom
I've been working with Internet content since 1989, before most people had heard the word "Internet." I've worked for companies large and small, mostly in on-line content industries. In 1999, I hopped the pond to the UK and I now work at Vodafone Group where I live in the culture clash between new media and telecommunications. I also have spoken at many conferences on the topics of XML, Content Management, Metadata and Mobile Data Services and more recently on the the rise of the mobile Web. I helped to create the W3C Mobile Web Initiative (w3.org/Mobile) where I am co-chair of the Mobile Web Best Practices working group. I founded Mobile Monday London (www.mobilemonday.org.uk) in 2005 and I instigated the mobile2.0 events (www.mobile2event.com) in 2006. I've written one book on developing Web applications with Addison Wesley and I was on the writing team for "Mobile Internet for Dummies."

I started the MobileMonday chapter in London where we have been running influential and well-attended monthly events for the last four years. Through the MobileMonday global community, I have also been involved in the creation and execution of many mobile events around the world, including the 'MobileMonday Global Peer Awards' in Barcelona, 'Over the Air' in London and the 'Mobile 2.0' conference series in San Francisco and Barcelona.
