Mr. Lipoff is the Executive Vice President and Principal of Hilco Merchant Resources, LLC (“HMR”), one of the leading asset disposition firms in the United States and the United Kingdom. In the last eight years, HMR has facilitated the disposition of over $15 billion in inventory throughout North America and Europe. HMR converts underperforming stores to working capital, facilitates mergers and acquisitions and conducts whole company wind downs. Mr. Lipoff specializes in structuring and implementing these sophisticated asset redeployment strategies for retailers. Prior to joining HMR Mr. Lipoff was a partner in bankruptcy/commercial law at the Chicago office of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue. While at Jones, Day, he participated in such major retail Chapter 11 cases as Federated Department Stores/Allied Stores Corporation, Herman’s Sporting Goods, Warehouse Club and Gantos. Mr. Lipoff was a member of the Board of Directors, and Chairman of the Compensation Committee, of Loehmann’s Holdings Inc. that, through its subsidiary, operates the nation’s leading specialty off price retailer of high-end designer and brand name apparel from 2000 through 2005, when the company was sold to a private equity firm. Mr. Lipoff currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Warrington College of Business Administration David F. Miller Center for Retailing Education and Research, University of Florida. Mr. Lipoff is a frequent speaker on legal, financial and bankruptcy cases. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison (1980) and earned his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law (1983). Mr. Lipoff currently lives in Glencoe, IL, with his wife of 25 years and two children.
