Chris Vockley’s Summary

My primary focus of study at NHGRI is the identification and characterization of non coding functional elements in the human genome such as promoters and enhancers by the transfection of reporter constructs into cell lines.

My primary focus at FDA-center for biologics evaluation and research is the develpment of novel molecular diagnostics for viral pathogens and the characterization of HIV and emergent retroviruses. I currently maintain an extramural collaboration with SAIC's biodefense group, soon to become GenArraytion.

At Genelogic I worked in a cancer genomics lab conducting microarray based gene expression studies.

Chris Vockley’s Specialties:

extensive molecular biology techniques; Biosafety Level 3 viral pathogen safety training; molecular diagnostics including but not limited to realtime PCR, fluorescent and electrochemical microarray design, optimization and processing; end user bioinformatic analysis; molecular cloning, transfection and design of reporter constructs, functional genomics, cancer research, AIDS / HIV research and biodefese research.
