Cathryn Piccirillo’s Experience

  • Freelance Reporter and Contributor

    Chicago Scene Magazine

    (Newspapers industry)

    June 2007Present (2 years 2 months)

I currently write and edit articles for Chicago Scene Magazine. Chicago Scene is a company which features "whats hot in the Windy City." We are therefore, a trend magazine. We cover celebrities who are visiting the cities, hotel, rest. and club openings. We have a readership of 300,000 through our online website, magazine and our monthly newsletter. Our constituents are usually young professionals who live in or around the city.

I started in this position in June as an intern at Chicago Scene. I will be heading our entire charity section through December and writing other various pieces, though I will be back in school at WVU in the fall.

  • Staff Reporter

    Dominion Post

(Public Company; 11-50 employees; Newspapers industry)

    January 2005May 2005 (5 months)

I wrote various articles concerning the Morgantown constituency. These included pieces on Dr. Fogarty (a plastic surgeon in the area), a series on health care in West Virginia and a government piece discussing current events in Iraq titled - "Through the Eyes of a Solider." Many of my portfoilio clips were from the Dominion Post and I am grateful for the opportunity.

  • Press Intern

    John D. Rockefeller

    (Privately Held; Government Relations industry)

    June 2004August 2004 (3 months)

I worked for Mark Ferrell, at the time the Press Secretary for Senator John D. Rockefeller. (Since my employment, he has moved on and is now the Press Secretary for Senator Byrd, also of West Virginia). I edited articles written by or for Senator Rockefeller, attended benefits with his staff and responded to his constituents when they reached us, in the Charleston office with inquires.
