The Personalized Healthcare Initiative at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. aims to improve the safety, quality and effectiveness of health care by using genetic information. The identification of genes and how they relate to drug treatment, personalized health care will enable medicine to be tailored to each person’s needs.
While there I was involved with all the activities, however my primary focus was on family health history and clinical decision support (CDS) tools for genetic information. As a result of the work completed there, I became co-author on a manuscript submitted to the Journal of Medical Decision Making entitled 'Information Management to Support Personalized Decision-Making in Health Care'. It is key source of inspiration for developing the website ItRunsInMyFamily.com
