Background

Summary

My research focuses on user information behavior, serendipitous information discovery, gaming, health informatics, human computer interaction and scholarly communication.

I worked for the Information Experience Laboratory of the University of Missouri as user experience researcher for seven years. I contributed to the growth of the lab through teaching, facilitating research, and providing professional usability evaluation services. I was involved in many interdisciplinary projects on the iterative design, user experience and usability evaluation of different information systems. I worked as a project manager of various client projects on user-centered design and evaluation of complex websites and information systems, including the University of Missouri (MU) Libraries website, MU Undergraduate admissions site, MU Human Resources site, MU International Center’s site, MU College of Education site, a startup company Newsy site (http://www.newsy.com/), East Central College site, Fontbonne university library site, Taiwanese Tamkang University library website, and many more.

I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri School of Journalism from 2011 to 2012. As a part of my postdoctoral fellowship, I created the MU Tiger Challenge social game to expose college students to news via a virtual social gaming environment.
