Amy Baer is President of Gidden Media, a filmed content company she founded in January 2012. She has 25 years experience in Hollywood that spans talent agencies, major studios, independent distribution and film production.
As a producer, her first film, the comedy LAST VEGAS, opened 11/1/2013, starring Oscar winners Michael Douglas, Robert DeNiro, Morgan Freeman & Kevin Kline. It has grossed $136MM worldwide.
In January 2012, Ms. Baer launched Gidden Media, a development and production company backed by a 7-figure fund to incubate content for a wide spectrum of distribution platforms. GM currently has 20 self-financed projects in development, for both film and television, including XONR8 - The Brian Banks Story, which Lee Daniels (THE BUTLER) will direct, and A STORM IN THE STARS – a period romantic biopic about the relationship between Percy and Mary Shelley, written by newcomer Emma Jensen. Elle Fanning (MALEFICENT) will star as “Mary,” and Haifaa Al-Mansour (WADJDA) will direct. Production plans to commence early 2015.
As President/ CEO of CBS Films (10/07-10/11), Ms. Baer supervised the development, production, marketing and distribution of CBSF's 2010 inaugural slate, and launched the CBSF Acquisitions program, which included the 2012 hit The Woman in Black. Ms. Baer spent 17 years (1990-2007) at Sony Pictures Entertainment, where she oversaw such hit films as 1997's My Best Friend's Wedding; 1998's The Mask of Zorro, 2001's Adaptation; 2002's hit S.W.A.T.; 2003's hit Something's Gotta Give; 2006's The Holiday; and the 2006 holiday hit The Pursuit of Happyness, for which Will Smith received an Oscar nomination. She also developed Oscar-nominated Moneyball starring Brad Pitt.
Ms. Baer began her career at Creative Artists Agency in 1988 as an assistant to the late Jay Moloney. She graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University in 1988 with a BA in English literature. She is married to producer Matt Baer (UNBROKEN, 2014), and is the mother of two.
I started an independent feature film studio as a division of CBS Corporation. I was responsible for the development, production, marketing and distribution of feature films. During my tenure the Division started from nothing and ended up with over 60 employees and had released 5 films to date with several others in the pipeline.
I was responsible for the development and production of feature films for Sony Pictures.
