Senior Account Executive at HMA Public Relations
Phoenix, Arizona Area
Admittedly called a “know-it-all” in elementary school, I am a steel trap for knowledge; a steel trap that paid off when I graduated from Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Ariz. in the top five percent of my class and received a scholarship to ASU. Originally planning on following in the footsteps of my (late) consultant father, I started my college career as a business major, but when my interest in writing and public speaking FAR outpaced my interest (and aptitude) in accounting and statistics, I knew it was time for a radical change.
By chance, I had a class near the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications building at ASU. Curiosity led me to sign up for a few more classes, and I found my calling. Public relations has afforded me the opportunity to stretch my writing skills while utilizing my talent for current events and trivia.
Why HMA?
With the baby of the Bailin family – Little Randy, Jr. – playing varsity football for Horizon in 2003, I rarely missed a game. And with a son also on the team, Scott Hanson - the “H” in HMA - rarely missed one either. It wasn’t too long before our shared interests helped me to score and interview with his prestigious firm.
An HMA team member since early 2004, I have worked my way up from an account coordinator to a senior account executive, participating on award-winning accounts in the restaurant, real estate, retail, non-profit, professional services, governmental and healthcare fields. I am a member of the Public Relations Society of America where I volunteers with its media breakfast and monthly luncheon programs and am a member of its professional development cluster. I also participate on the board of governors for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Rocky Mountain Chapter (NATAS) and helps plan the local Emmy Awards.
