Alex is CEO of Latitude - one of the UK's largest digital marketing firms with a turnover of £58.5M (ranked number one in PPC April ‘09) helping FTSE 100 and SME clients alike maximise their impact online.
Alex's background offers a range of entrepreneurial, media and internet expertise matched with institutional and global experience.
In 1991, he joined Disney where he dug into traditional media business models - programming, terrestrial and satellite broadcasting, film. Alex perceived the power of online models for media while at Harvard Business School in 1994 and thereafter as a management consultant for McKinsey & Co. working with newspaper, TV and music companies migrating to the digital medium.
Following an entrepreneurial path, in 1999 Alex co-founded GoIndustry plc (formerly AG), which he and his partners built from the proverbial napkin into a 17-country global leader in online industrial auctions. After running the company between London and Munich, he and the team took it public in London where it was valued at over $100M.
These provided Alex experience in the roles of CEO, CFO, CTO and CMO and drove new product development, M&A, international expansion, financing, sales force effectiveness and turnaround management.
Since 2006 Alex has been encouraged by and encouraging entrepreneurial inspiration in Europe. To this end, Alex has acted as angel investor, principal or mentor in technology and internet-based projects. He also acts as an advisor to Vitruvian Partners, a €0.9B private equity fund focused on technology, media and telecoms.
Alex has worked and lived in the UK, Germany, the US and Latin America and speaks the respective languages to varying degrees. While obtaining his BA from Stanford and MBA from Harvard, ever the entrepreneur, he co-founded the wine club at both.
Alex enjoys skiing, kite surfing and running. Other interests include an angel investment portfolio, Seedcamp, YPO, Cambridge Angels.
