Led newly created Design and Project Teams in the successful execution of the leading-edge Fan Drive Gear System (FDGS) design for P&W's first Geared Turbofan Engine product. Key components are double helical gears, hydrodynamic bearings, flexible input shaft and flexible mount system.
Responsibilities included:
Determining manpower requirements, sizing Design and Project teams. Design team composed of 4 on-site Designers, 2 on-site and 3 off-site (India) Structures Engineers. Project team composed of 3 on-site Project Engineers supporting industrial planning and facilitating flow of information with Suppliers.
Assessing Supplier manufacturing capability (Supplier in Poland) and driving design to meet feasibility requirements. Extensive traveling to Supplier required before and during manufacturing phase.
Leading team to meet technical, cost and schedule requirements; Coached newly formed team in designing and analyzing the FDGS. Produced and presented Design Review documentation;
Providing metrics status to Program Office
Coordinated Geared Turbofan (GTF) Demonstrator Engine Fan Drive Gear System design with supplier (in Italy); GTF engine was used to demonstrate the technology prior to applying it to P&W product. Established strong working relationship with supplier to ensure technical and schedule requirements were met.

Led product development teams; responsibilities included project management, resource planning, training, design, and team support, focusing on turbine engine power transmission components including gears, internal oil tubes and seals.
Tracked progress and cost, and resolved technical issues on test programs related to gas turbine engine components, high-speed journal bearings, and high-misalignment carbon seals.
Designed power transmission mechanical systems for gas turbine engines.
Contributed to the qualification of a new spiral bevel gear vendor in reducing cost of part by 50%.
