Director of Information Technology at Luckie & Company
Birmingham, Alabama Area
I am a seasoned IT professional with over 12 years of experience in multiple roles. While I am versed in a variety of technologies, my primary areas of expertise lie in information security, database design and management, and open source software such as Linux. These tools are the underlying basis of the next generation of the Web, and as such make me an ideal asset to an organization with a focus on forward looking technologies.
Hard skills aside, I find that my ability to take technical concepts and break them down in ways that nontechnical people can easily grasp is my biggest asset.

During my time at Luckie, I and my team have virtualized the entire infrastructure of the organization, as well as implemented an effective business continuity plan. Luckie has a very heterogeneous network, with various versions of Windows, Linux, and OSX. We've worked with all these systems to effectively integrate them into a seamless environment. We've also introduced version control into our interactive development methodology, and rolled out websites using such diverse technologies as Ruby on Rails, PHP, and ColdFusion.

While at TekLinks, I helped put into place the systems and methods that have given rise one of the largest independent network and management providers in the state of Alabama. I also managed multiple client networks and provided strategic insight as well as hard implementations for those clients.
TekLinks also introduced me to my first management role, where I was responsible for a small team of developers.

July 1999 — March 2001 (1 year 9 months)
At Pomeroy I was given my first taste of consulting. Here I worked on some of my first major rollouts, including what was at the time the largest Novell network in the state of Alabama. I learned to manage client relationships as well as my own time as an independent network engineer.
(Public Company; RF; Banking industry)
June 1997 — July 1999 (2 years 2 months)
My first position out of college, Regions introduced me to the world of information technology at full speed. My work with the bank was to manage their UNIX based check imaging and processing systems. This was a 24/7 operation, and had very little tolerance for downtime of any kind. I learned here to be ready for any situation that might arise, as well as the importance of being available at any time.
BS , Computer Science and Mathematics , 1993 — 1997
A hard science degree from a liberal arts college? It sounds silly, but the critical thinking skills and well rounded education that I gained at BSC have been a great asset to me.
