February 2001 — April 2008 (7 years 3 months)
At Ecohaus, I was responsible for the management of a business selling high quality, environmentally friendly building materials. As General Manager, I was directly responsible for supervision of and support for a staff of fifteen people including seven retail salespeople, showroom manager, two outside salespeople, a marketing coordinator, an operations manager and all support staff. A large part of what I did was to network in the community to build our profile as the première green building materials retailer in the Pacific Northwest. In addition, I was involved in company wide strategic planning involving our stores and distribution center. I started employment as a showroom salesperson, moved to the showroom manager position and then store manager. I had been part of the company wide Communications Team, and editor of the internal corporate newsletter.

My job was primarily centered in three areas – sales, marketing and website coordination. As a salesperson, I worked with design professionals and individual retail clients selling high-end area rugs. The marketing aspect of my job required that I create, refine, implement and track marketing materials. Finally, I coordinated the re-launch of the company website, which incorporated many of my ideas and visions for a successful, artistic and profitable site. This website was undergoing constant additions, revisions and being monitored for traffic and usage – all of which I oversaw.
