I am an energetic instructor with eight years’ experience teaching writing, literature, and public speaking courses to diverse student populations, including those attending classes at community colleges, small liberal arts colleges, universities, and state and federal correctional institutions. I specialize in working with academically underprepared and financially disadvantaged students through academic instruction, advisement, and mentoring. According to the Roberta Harvey, the Director of First Year Writing at Rowan University, I have "extensive experience with basic skills students as well as tremendous insights into their learning. [I] maintain a balance of empathy and rigor that offers a valuable model to all instructors, but especially to those working with disadvantaged students." I am also a highly skilled community outreach program and activities coordinator whose projects raise student and community awareness of social justice issues, especially those related to incarceration.
